“Receiving the Sobey Scholarship allows me to do all of the things that I want to do without having to worry about working full time during my education.”

What has receiving the Donald R. Sobey Family Scholarship meant to you?

I have always had a tendency to keep myself busy. Receiving the Sobey Scholarship allows me to do all of the things that I want to do without having to worry about working full time during my education. It also gives me the financial stability I require to be able to think realistically about continuing my education after my undergrad.

What is your single favourite memory of King’s so far?

My favourite memory of King’s so far was receiving a phone call from the KTS letting me know that I was going to be directing Taming of the Shrew for the 2018 Fall Season.

Why do you think it’s important to study the humanities?

I believe that in order to be a well rounded thinker you must have a basic understanding of a wide array of topics. If you only study math, you end up missing out on the potential philosophical implications of theories. Likewise, if you only study philosophy, you lose the scientific thinking skills you could gain through physics. The humanities often get passed over because they don’t translate as obviously into careers and financial gain, but they are still vital to being able to understand and think about the world we inhabit.
